XM COMP

XM COMP

GET COMPETITIVE.

“Leashes are for dogs.”

Aside from Aussie-isms like Legrope and Leggie, surf slang for leashes also include: Ding String, Surf Strap, Shot Cord, Kook Connector, Kook Cord, Sissy String, Dope Rope, Goon Strap.

That’s what anti-leashers said when the surf leash first appeared in line-ups back in the early ‘70s. Then Bob Nealy at XM | SURF MORE started innovating on that front around 1973 when he founded the company. XM introduced the first velcro strap (among other innovations) and more and more people joined the movement. Leashes made sense. By the mid-70s, most surfers were on-board. And not too long ago a Surfer Magazine poll found that 99% of surfers now wear leashes most of the time.

Comp is short for competition. The XM Comp premium leash is the all-around favorite leash cord strength/thickness for small to medium waves and competitive surfers. It’s on the thinner and lighter side and keeps your short board tethered while still feeling pretty free in the water.

All XM Comp premium leashes use XM POWER CORD - the latest technology from XM's own proprietary urethane cord production facilities in San Clemente, California, USA. Over the last 30 plus years of manufacturing our own urethane cord we've perfected the right balance between strength and flexibility to produce premium high quality cords you can rely on. Especially when you need to get competitive.

Custom Leash

I requested an 8' leash in a color that your website did not depict for the particular model. After a short phone conversation with your office, XM Surf filled my order in the color desired.

Glad we were able to get you all taken care of with your cord color Robert. Thanks for your feedback.

Maxing South Swell with the XM Pro Comp Leash.

Bothe XM Comp leashes held up perfect during this latest max south swell. Caught inside a few sets and wasn’t worried about my leash snapping.

Glad to hear it Richard. Stay stoked.

Great longboard comp leash!

I am replacing an older XM "Complite" leash. I think my purchase of (2) XM SURFBOARD LEASH / COMP (.220in) are as close to a replacement as you can get. It seems like everybody keeps changing their names and identifiers for their products which makes it difficult if you just want to replace what you have. FYI, I purchased my "Complite" in 2013 and it has lasted until now! That should say something about your quality. Just so you know from which I speak, I started surfing at 13 in 1961. Your "Complite" was perfect for me. At my age now (72), I pretty much keep to waves slightly over head and below, so the Complite is perfect with little drag & enough strength to handle it! Not many people make as good a longboard compleash as you guys!

Thanks for supporting XM all these years and sharing on how well the leashes have lasted. Congrats on still surfing at 72! Enjoy.
