PULL THE PIN. RELEASE THE CORD. ON A SUP.
Noting a need for an emergency release mechanism in critical situations such as around jetties, lobster traps, piers, strong currents, high winds, XM | SURF MORE developed the first patented quick release device that actually separated the strap from the cord.
Earlier designs would bypass the Velcro to open the strap but the surfer could still be stuck in a hog-tied position and unable to detach themselves. The re-usable and patented XM Power Clip (with its ez-grip yellow pull ring) quick release system creates a greater margin of safety. The pin is in, unless you want it out.
Many lives have been saved over the years because the athlete was able to easily find the yellow pull ring, pull the pin, release the cord to get free, and swim to safety!
So make sure you checkout all the hazards you're paddling into. The XM Power Clip system is very handy under many circumstances and many athletes choose to have as one of their go to accessories - better to be safe than sorry.

Did we mention that XM leashes are all made by hand. By real people. Here in America? Hopefully that should even put a little more pep in your cutback. Some of our artisans have been part of the XM | SURF MORE family over 35 years. All this experience, dedication, and love goes into every leash made here in San Clemente, California since 1973. Yep that's almost 50 years of premium high quality dedication and heritage. A legacy of quality and craftsmanship unmatched by anyone in the industry.
All XM premium and ultra-premium leashes now come with XM's latest in cord technology. XM POWER CORD is manufactured by XM in its USA, California facilities and benefits from over 30 years of XM urethane cord extrusion research and development using XM's proprietary formula, process and equipment. No other major leash brand comes close to XM's cord production mastery as they all outsource their leash production overseas. XM has achieved the perfect balance between strength and flexibility delivering the ultimate performance and safety for XM athletes all over the world. XM is the best choice for power athletes.
Of course, all our premium and ultra-premium leashes have XM’s killer, unmatched warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for 3 whole years from the original purchase date. (Abuse, inappropriate use, natural wear and fin cuts not applied)... But how about those 3 years?! We feel so strongly about our premium high quality materials and craftsmanship we back it up like no other. A WARRANTY SO EPIC IT'S UNMATCHED BY ANYONE IN THE INDUSTRY.
I got this leash and threw it, still wrapped, in the car with my board on the roof. Drove to my secret spot on the Oregon coast. Sunset was fast approaching and after I fought my way into my artificial seal blubber suit, I grabbed my gear and set off down the cliff and through the primordial undergrowth. I had just enough strength left to paddle out into the pealing chest high right - but it was not to be. The leash was packaged in some kind of infernal plastic magnum combat grade condom wrap. No amount of twisting or bending or foul language could break the sanitary wrapping. After desperate scrabbling through the shale along the high tide line I finally found a sharpened flint with which to pierce the unholy cylinder and release the coil. Many thanks to that native person who so thoughtfully left me a tool. I did not get to test the leash - it was feeding hour for the local marine predators and I was very careful not to fall in - but I did manage to catch two rides before sunset and common sense put me back on shore. Is this packaging really necessary?
Thanks for your feedback Stuart. Hopefully on your next XM SUP leash you will be able to enjoy our new packaging which will be a much butter unwrapping experience. Enjoy your new leash!
