In a surf scenario, a straight leash is the way to go because a coil is going to stretch too far, get tangled and be dangerous. For racing or touring, a coil leash is nice because it’s short and out of the way, so there’s no drag. The hybrid is good for surf racing, where it’s straight but also a bit out of the way…cause sometimes with a full coil you do a pivot turn and get all tangled up.

I appreciate the quick response and flexibility of the team at XM Surf More. I've been trying to find leashes for SUP racing and other board sports that I can dial in for performance. This is the only company I've found that provides the options to do this.

Loving the comp weight 7' coiled as a wrist leash for my 6 meter wing. Lighter coil stays out of the way, and if you need the length, it's there. I found you add 1 to the meter size of a wing surfer type hand sail, and use that length in feet. So a 6meter would want a 7 ft coil, and a 4 meter might like a 5 foot coil.
Very sturdy and the custom colors are great.
